In this design, large exhaust fans are installed at one end of an enclosed poultry house, while cooling pads are installed at the other end. The exhaust fans draw outside air into the humidified cooling pads, where it is cooled through evaporation. The air then flows rapidly and evenly along the length of the poultry house, eventually being exhausted by the exhaust fans.
Tunnel-ventilated chicken houses require excellent sealing. Damaged curtains, unsealed doors, gaps, or incompletely enclosed side walls can all allow hot air to enter the chicken house, reducing pressure within the tunnel and affecting cooling efficiency.
